Today I participated in the Czech National Championship in Downhill. After fourcross National championship last weekend,I was spending some time in Zlin, which was nearby so I decided to try downhill for the first time.
I grabbed my 4X hardtail, which is a classical cross country model by Duratec Torain C1 (!), I put on complete wheels Allcross by Remerx, downhill tires by Rubena and a fork with 145mm travel (thanks to Erik Kimmel for borrowing) and I was curious, if the bike is even capable of surviving the downhill riding on a ski slope...
The track wasnt that nice little alley as I was hearing from the others before the race and without rear suspension, it was quite tough. Anyways, I enjoyed 4 full days of riding and without one big crash the day before the race, I could have been maybe better than 9th place in my category.
Afterall, the bike and the frame survived everything in a perfect shape, which is amazing. I eventually got throu alive as well, so good experience and I was satisfied.
Next race: UCI World Cup 5, Val di Sole, Italy
